Join Chicago Organizers for a 1-Day Solidarity Hunger Strike
Help Save Dyett High School on Tuesday, Aug. 25
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
I am calling on you to join the Dyett Hunger Strikers on Tuesday, Aug. 25 with a 1-Day Solidarity Hunger Strike.
On Aug. 17, parents, teachers and community members began a hunger strike to save Dyett High School on the south side of Chicago. Dyett is the last open-enrollment public high school in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood, but in recent years Chicago Public Schools has made numerous attempts to close Dyett. Instead, the local community is fighting to transform Dyett into a sustainable community school called the Dyett Global Leadership and Green Technology Academy.

Dear Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools Family,
On July 16, the U.S. Senate passed the Every Child Achieves Act of 2015, a bill to reauthorize the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, by a vote of 81 to 17.
